Talbiyah Virtues

Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk the Talbiyah; these are the words that echo the valleys of Makkah as millions of Muslims in one unified voice proclaim the oneness of Allah. Here are some virtues of Talbiyah from Ahadith.

The Creation Recite it Too

Sahl ibn S’ad reports that the Prophet ﷺ said,

“When a Muslim recites Talbiyah, then verily everything from his right and left and every stone, tree and even the ground around him recite the Talbiyah with him to the ends of the Earth and as far as he can see”

Raising Voice

Khallad ibn Sa’ib narrates from his father, who said that the Prophet ﷺ said,

“Gabriel came to me and commanded me to command my companions to raise their voices while reciting لا إله إلا الله (ihlaal) and to raise their voices while reciting Talbiyah.”

[Maalik, Abu Dawud, Ibn Maaja, Nisa’i, Tirmidhi]

Signs of Hajj

Zayd ibn Khalid Al – Zuhani narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said,

“Jibreel (AS) came to me and said to me, command your companions to raise their voices with Talbiyah indeed it is from the symbols and signs of Hajj.”

[Ibn Majah and Ibn Khuzayma]

Glad Tidings of Jannah!

Abu Hurairah narrates from the Prophet ﷺ:

“There is not a person who recites the Tahleel or Takbeer but that person is granted glad tidings. It was said, ‘Oh Messenger of Allah, are these glad tidings of Jannah?’

The Prophet ﷺ responded, “Yes, the glad tidings will be of Paradise.”

Most Virtuous Deeds

Abu Bakr (RA) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ was asked,

“Which of the deeds are most virtuous? The Prophet  ﷺsaid, “To abundantly and loudly recite Talbiyah and to sacrifice the animals after Hajj.”

[Ibn Majah and Tirmidhi]

Sins Disappear!

Jabir ibn Abdullah said that the Prophet ﷺ said,

“There is not a person who enters into the state of Ihram and dedicates his day to Allah (swt) and recites Talbiyah until he reaches the time when the sun disappears, that its disappearance will also make his sins disappear until he becomes free of sins like the day he was born.”

[Imam Malik and Ibn Majah
