The following is a quick Umrah guide written by Maulana Sayful Alam of AlAnsaar Tours. May Allah reward him and the organisation for their efforts and make it a means to benefit those who read this, Aameen. Alhamdulillah permission has been granted to upload these on our website.

TAWAAF – QUICK GUIDE


Whilst Walking to Masjidul Haram:
1. Perform Wudhu and leave the hotel
2. Take with you at least 20 Riyals for the haircut after completing Sa’ee (for men)
3. Leave scissors ready for when you return to the hotel (for women)
4. Recite the Talbiyah loudly whilst walking to the Haram
5. Internalise how everything around you is also reciting the Talbiyah with you

Entering the Masjid:
1. Take off your slippers and put it in your bag. Do not leave it on the shoe rack
2. Make intention of Nafl I’tikaaf
3. Recite the Du’a whilst entering the Masjid and enter with the right foot

Whilst Walking towards the Hajr Aswad corner (where Tawaaf begins):
1. Men should start uncovering their right shoulder
2. Start making intention as you walk to where Tawaaf begins. ‘Oh Allah, I am about to
perform seven rounds Tawaaf for Umrah. Please accept it and make it easy for me’

Upon Reaching Hajar Aswad Corner:
1. You should now be in line with Hajar Aswad (or the green light) in the Mataf
2. Face the Ka’bah
3. Raise your hands like you do for Salah (hands up to the ears)
4. Recite, BISMILLAHI ALLAHU AKBAR, WA LILLAHIL HAMD x1
5. Now perform Istilaam which means to stretch your hands towards Hajr Aswad and recite:
BISMILLAHI ALLAHU AKBAR x1
6. Now kiss the top part of your hands and begin the seven rounds of Tawaaf

Whilst Performing Tawaaf:
1. Men should try speed walking, moving their shoulders right to left, in the first 3 rounds
2. Women should walk at a steady pace in all 7 rounds
3. Do not look at the Kabah whilst performing Tawaaf except the Hajr Aswad corner
4. Read any Du’a you wish in any language. You can also recite the Qur’an
5. You can also read Du’as from books.
6. Do not touch the Kabah cloth as there is strong smell on it and you are in the state of Ihram
7. Do not kiss or perform Istilaam at Rukn Yamani. If you are close to it, then ONLY touch it
8. Between Rukn Yamani and Hajr Aswad corner, recite RABBANA AATINA FID DUNYA
HASANAH, WA FIL AAKIRATI HASANAH, WAQINA AZAABAN NAAR
9. When you reach Hajr Aswad you have completed one round
10. Perform Istilaam again and now start your round two. You need to complete seven rounds
11. Upon completing all seven rounds, perform Istilaam for the 8th time.

Upon finishing 7 Rounds of Tawaaf:
1. Perform two Rak’ats Salah anywhere in the Mataf. Ideally behind Maqam Ibrahim
2. The intention should be, ‘Oh Allah, I am praying two Rak’ats after completing my Tawaaf’
3. Try to recite Surah Kaafirun in first Rak’ah and Surah Ikhlaas in the second Rak’ah
4. After Salah, make as much Du’a as you wish then go towards the Zamzam fountains or drums
5. Before drinking, make Du’a and ask Allah to cure you from illnesses, physical and spiritual
6. Drink to your hearts content whilst standing and facing the Qiblah

After Drinking Zamzam:
1. If possible, go near Multazam and make Du’a to your hearts content
2. If not, try to do Istilaam one last time. This is Mustahab. If it is not possible due to the crowd,
then no need to worry. Just head towards Mount Safa to begin the Sa’ee

SA’EE – QUICK GUIDE

Whilst Walking to Safa, make:
1. Intention of performing the Sa’ee for Umrah in any language in your heart
2. Du’a that Allah makes the Sa’ee easy for you
3. Du’a that Allah accepts the Sa’ee from you

Whilst Walking to Safa, read:
1. ABDA OO BIMA BADA’ALLAHU BIH
2. INNAS SAFA WAL MARWATA MIN SHA’AA IRILLAH

Whilst Walking to Safa, visualise:
1. Hajar and Ismail being left alone in the barren desert alone and with no provision
2. When Hajar had no more food or water left
3. Baby Ismail crying
4. Hajar frantically searching from Safa to Marwa for help and provisions
5. The reason why she had to run between the two green lights
6. How Allah made this act an act of worship
7. The miraculous emergence of the fountain of Zamzam

Upon Reaching Safa:
1. Face the Ka’bah
2. Raise your hands like you do for Du’a
3. Recite: ALLAHU AKBAR LA ILAAHA ILLALLAH x3
4. Recite: 4th Kalimah (include YUHYI WAYUMIT) x1
5. Recite: LAA ILAA HA ILLALLAHU WAHDAH, ANJAZA WA’DAH, WA NASARA ‘ABDAH,
WA HAZAMAL AHZAABA WAHDAH x1
6. Recite: Durood
7. Make Du’a however long you wish

Whilst Performing Sa’ee:
1. Read RABBIGFIR WARHAM, WA ANTAL A’AZZUL AKRAM as frequently as you can
2. Both men and women to read this same Du’a, especially between the green light section
3. Make any Du’a you wish in Arabic or any other language
4. Recite Qur’an if you wish
5. Be extra careful to go right to the end upon reaching one end. Don’t just take shortcut

Upon Reaching Marwa (Same as upon reaching Safa):
1. Face the Ka’bah
2. Raise your hands like you do for Du’a
3. Recite: ALLAHU AKBAR LA ILAAHA ILLALLAH x3
4. Recite: 4th Kalimah (include YUHYI WAYUMIT) x1
5. Recite: LAA ILAA HA ILLALLAHU WAHDAH, ANJAZA WA’DAH, WA NASARA ‘ABDAH,
WA HAZAMAL AHZAABA WAHDAH x1
6. Recite: Durood
7. Make Du’a however long you wish

After Completing Sa’ee:
1. It is Mustahab to perform 2 Rak’ah Nafl Salah
2. Make Du’a and thank him for assisting you in completing Umrah
3. You can now make arrangements to cut your hair
4. Men can go to barbers or cut it at the hotel as well if they wish
5. Women should go back to the hotel and get assistant from family members to cut their hair
6. After cutting your hair, you have now come out of the state of Ihraam. Alhamdulillah
