Umrah is a popular act of worship whereby millions of people perform it regularly, thousands on a daily basis and more than a billion have a desire to do so. Let’s learn some virtues of Umrah to extend this love and pray we perform it too.

Service of Allah
Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى says:
And complete the Hajj and Umrah in the service of Allah…
(Al Baqarah, 196)
2. Redemption of Sins
Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrates that Nabi صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم said,
“An Umrah to another Umrah will be redemption of sins for whatever (minor) occurs between them.”
(Bukhari, Muslim)
3. Removes Poverty
Ibne Mas’ood رضي الله عنه said that Nabi صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم said,
“Follow up the Hajj and Umrah, because they certainly remove poverty and sins as fire separates the impurities from iron, gold and silver.”
(Tirmidhi, Ibne Khuzaimah, Ibne Hibbaan)
4. Guests of Allah
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه Rasulullah صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم stated:
‘The performers of Hajj and Umrah are guests of Allah (swt), if they seek something from Him, He will grant them, if they seek forgiveness He will forgive them.”
(Ibn Majah)
5. Jihad
Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrates that Nabi صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم said,
“The Jihad of the elderly, weak and the woman is undertaking the Hajj and Umrah.”
(Nasaai)
6. Reward of Hajj
Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه relates that Nabi صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم said,
“Umrah performed in the month of Ramadhan will equal (in rewards) to that of Hajj or Hajj performed with Me (SAW).”
(Bukhari, Muslim)
