Ruling of the use of alcohol in sanitisers, deodorants, medicines etc.:
Is it permissible to use alcohol sanitisers in Ihram, as we may have to use sanitisers due to the coronavirus situation?
As long as they are synthetic (formulated from chemical substances/lab created) or not derived from grapes, dates or barley, they are permissible which is the case generally for most deodorants, perfumes, medicines, hand sanitisers or some foods where it is used as a flavour carrier. You do however occasionally get alcohol used in these which are derived from grapes, dates, barley etc.
As a precautionary stance, it is always better to avoid anything which contains alcohol if reasonably possible.
Alcohol-free sunblock, skin-creams etc are available on the market too so better to avoid the ones which contain alcohol. Alcohol-free creams are also better for your skin, seek further confirmation from a medical professional or dermatologist.
